Jon managed to catch up drummer Cyrus Bolooki of New Found Glory ahead of their sold out show at the London HMV Forum.
Cyrus spoke to Alter The Press! about the release of their new record 'Not Without A Fight', signing to hardcore label Bridge 9, the origin of the bands side project International Superheroes Of Hardcore, the Blink-182 reunion, the fans and more.
Alter The Press: First time back in the UK with the release of 'Not Without A Fight', how has the album been received so far?
Cyrus: It's been amazing; we have the type of fans that, no matter where there from, they get the type of music. It doesn't matter if they get it from a store, a lot of people managed to get it before it even came out, and we don't really mind. They come to the show, they sing every word and, with places like Australia, it came out as we were over there and, with days before it was officially coming out, kids knew all the words. In the UK, it's amazing. We can't play a whole record in it's entirety live, we don't have enough time, and have too many songs, but we get to play 3 or 4 songs and they are received really well. The kids, who don't know these songs, get them, as they are pretty immediate as far as the response, it's pretty easy to get into them.
ATP: You have a fan base where if the album leaks, everyone will still support you guys some way, some how; if it's coming to a show, buying a shirt etc.
Cyrus: Even in today’s word, not a lot of fans buy music but even if they don't they will come out to the show, buying merchandise. It's all supporting us, like if we play Reading/Leeds Festival, tons of fans will come out for us. That's bigger support than record sales.
ATP: The appeal is definitely that you give a lot to your fans. You have been known to start playing a show, rip up the set list and do requests, bring people on stage to play.
Cyrus: We try and have fun. A lot of places like London, we try and do special things. At the Forum, here, we shot our DVD, instead of some place in America where it would have been cheaper. It's important to give back to your fans because it keeps us on the same level as the kids, it's where we came from and, we're not a band who think we’re on this pedestal and that no one should speak to us without a pass. It keeps it fresh for us. If we rip up a set list, we'll play some songs we've never played before, or play a song where a kid plays a guitar. We are always a band who try to have fun. Our live shows are huge to us and we want to keep it as interesting as possible for everyone. We still play the same venues as we did back in the day and people are still coming out to see us. It's flattering.
ATP: Is there a reason why you chose to play only 2 shows, instead of a full tour, since the release of the new record?
Cyrus: Two reasons for that. We did a tour in the UK and we are coming back for Reading/Leeds Festivals in August and, so, hopefully we will do some club shows around that. I think it was so we can go to Europe, as we've never been to some places like Spain and Luxembourg. We aren’t trying to take away anything from the UK, but there are other places out there as well, and we'll just try and come back again.
ATP: Can we expect a full tour by the end of the year?
Cyrus: Not sure, if we don't do more club dates around Reading/Leeds, hopefully early next year.
ATP: How did you sign with Bridge 9 Records?
Cyrus: That was something; they made a name for themselves. They made a big name for themselves in the hardcore and vinyl community. At the time, we were without a label and weren't looking to sign with them but do International Superheroes of Hardcore (NFG side project) with them. We had these NFG songs which were heavier and some cover songs of hardcore bands which had influenced us. It all fit that we would find a label like that. Everyone at Bridge 9 are amazing and very receptive to it. They put out the Not Without A Fight vinyl release and we’re still trying to help them out. It was something we could all agree on, without having to sign a crazy contract saying we have to do six records with them. We had an idea, they backed it, we both back each other.
ATP: How did ISHC come together?
Cyrus: At the time we were writing 'Coming Home' which was a lot different to our other records. We were living in this huge mansion in Malibu and it was all through the record label. For 24 hours a day, we would have things set up and would work on 'Coming Home' as our main focus but you can't write that stuff for 24 hours straight, it's tough. We would take breaks, and not do much with NFG, so that’s where Chad (Gilbert - lead guitarist) would play around with some riffs and people would pop up on instruments. Jordan (Pundik - vocals) said he wanted to do something so, he grabbed a guitar but Chad didn't want to play guitar and sing so, before we knew it, we had everything set up to record; and those were the first ISHC songs, which we did in the studio in Malibu. It's a really fun thing for us to do and it's something that is definitely not going away; it’s always an outlet for us.
ATP: Where did the whole super-hero idea come from?
Cyrus: The whole idea came from the first song we did, where we referenced as many super-hero names as we could in 'Super Hero Sellouts,' but for us, if we wanted to release this, we didn't want to make it serious at all. Everyone went in with a name and, next thing you know, we were super heroes and the artwork fell into place.
ATP: Was the whole record done in Malibu?
Cyrus: It was all over the place. We had no idea it was going to be on Bridge 9 when doing the demos; we did some in California whilst on tour, just really everywhere.
ATP: When can we see another ISHC show?
Cyrus: No idea. We need to ask our super-hero booking agent. It's very random, the other night in Paris we busted out a song. This was in the middle, during the NFG set. Originally we were going to do full costumes but it's way too hot to do that.
ATP: It must be hard for Chad singing two sets, and for the rest of you guys playing two sets in one night, especially throughout the US tour you just did.
Cyrus: Lucky for us, there were 5 bands on the bill, and ISHC would play second, so there was two bands before NFG played, so we would get a rest. And, it was only a 25 minute set, but it would only really be 18 minutes, as the songs are only a minute and a half long. It was tiring but fun.
ATP: Any news on new material? Chad said recently it was going to be more serious.
Cyrus: I haven't heard any of the lyrics but the music is definitely ISHC stuff.
ATP: Anything else planned to come out on Bridge 9?
Cyrus: Nothing in the works but it'll continue.
ATP: What would you say has kept you guys going so strong as a band for 12 years?
Cyrus: The fans because they are still out there, coming to see us 12 years later. What we have together as a band, just wanting to have fun and play everywhere, is still there. It's been the five of us from the beginning and we have done this for 12 years, made sacrifices and have experiences to look back on. None of us can really get big headed because we can always bring each other back down to the same level but we are all really united. It's our life and we aren't going anywhere.
ATP: Back in the day, people would associate you with bands like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan. Do you try and stir away from that side of music?
Cyrus: In interviews people would always say ‘you sound like Good Charlotte,’ we understand why you are saying that, but we really don't. On the surface, it may look like the same genre but you need to go deeper. Back in the day, people would always do that, like Chad when telling his friends about hardcore, who don't listen to anything besides what is on the radio, he would have to compare it to Rage Against The Machine. It's probably the furthest comparison. With that sort of stuff, we don't have to try and stay away as we have our sound. As long as we write music from the heart, which sounds like NFG, it's always going to have its place. All those bands are just based off trends and are here today, gone tomorrow. We would just stay there and watch them pass us by. It's a big thing.
ATP: People will always associate you guys as one of the most respected and biggest bands in pop punk.
Cyrus: Yeah. Just look at a band like Green Day, granted their image has changed a little bit but they are still playing the same songs, and all their songs still sound like Green Day. They are massive and kind of led the way. In the middle of their career, people thought they were going to break up and not put out anything huge again. So if anything, that band is an example to us, just to stay true to yourself, your fans will always remain your fans and if you get any new ones, that’s great.
ATP: A lot of people thought, as your friends with the guys, you were going to be supporting Blink-182 on their upcoming US tour, especially with the release of the new record.
Cyrus: So did we. I think everybody and their mom approached them for that tour, and it was such a surprise to hear they were coming back together. It came out of nowhere and the next day everyone was probably calling. We all thought about it, that it would be awesome to go on tour with them, and called the people we needed to, but when we heard back, everybody had been calling and we needed to figure out what we wanted ourselves. They have other bands on the tour, and we've already toured with them, if there back together, it's not going to be the last tour, so who knows. Something I’d really like, is if they would bring us here, as we were supposed to in 2001 but because of September 11th, and other issues, it was cancelled. Somebody should tell them they should follow through on that but it almost doesn't matter who they bring, as the main focus is going to be Blink. It's going to be a good show.
ATP: What is planned after this European tour?
Cyrus: We are taking summer over and coming back for Reading/Leeds, some European festivals, hopefully some club dates and then probably some US stuff. Early next year will probably be Japan and then countries we have never been to, hopefully come back here in the Spring. There are no plans for another record for two years.

│ Digg This│ Stumble ThisInterview: Bayside - 30/05/09
Jon managed to catch up with Nick and Jack of Bayside before their set supporting New Found Glory at the London HMV Forum.
The guys spoke to Alter The Press! about touring with New Found Glory, the reception of their recent record 'Shudder', being currently unsigned and plans for the future.
Alter The Press: What’s it like being back in the UK?
Jack: Great, this is the first time we've ever toured mainland Europe. We've played the UK many times but this is the first time we've managed to see other parts of Europe. But, having spent time in countries that don't speak English, it felt great to come to the UK!
Nick: The show last night in Wolverhampton was awesome and now the sun is out. It has to be the first time we've seen the sun in the UK.
ATP: How was the US tour with NFG?
Jack: Awesome. It was my favorite tour we've ever done. Way back before anything was booked, they talked about us being a part of their world tour.
ATP: This is the second time you've been to the UK with the release on 'Shudder'. How has it been received so far?
Nick: Hopefully, well. We don't know how many albums actually exist out there but we are only playing one or two songs off it every night, especially on a support tour with a bigger band. I think, overall, people like the album, but we haven't played much of it, especially in the UK. My favorite track is 'Boy' and 'A Call To Arms'. I hope to write more songs like that in the future.
ATP: Have you started writing the next record?
Nick: We don't have a record label at the moment so, that’s kind of a big thing in our lives, we need to figure who will put it out first. Anthony is always writing new things but we haven't come together as a band yet to try and start writing. The process, in some ways, has slowly started because we know we are creeping up to a time where we need to find our new label. No demos are done but we might mess around at sound check where Anthony will show us something on guitar.
ATP: You said you're currently unsigned and not with Victory Records anymore, do you have any labels in mind yet?
Jack: We haven't formally been speaking with anyone because we are still under contract with Victory, with the support of this record. Out of respect for our contractual obligation, we are refraining from speaking to anyone formally about any plans. I think we did everything we could with our time with Victory, our contract was up and it was time for us to move on and do something different. We wish them all the best in the future.
Nick: We should sign to Playtone Records!
ATP: Did you think, when signing to Victory, you would be with them for a while, or did you see it as a temporary thing?
Jack: When we signed, it was for a four record deal and we were pretty aggressive when putting them out. We had at least one release every year.
Nick: Probably more than that, there are 7 total releases.
ATP: How did you get involved with To Write Love On Our Arms?
Nick: We met them on the Anberlin tour we did a year ago. Jamie was really passionate and believes in what he does, it's rare to find that nowadays. It's a good cause and he's a great guy.
ATP: What's planned after this tour?
Nick: Two weeks off and Warped Tour.
Jack: Hopefully some time off after, we've been on tour for 5-6 months straight so, it'd be great to be home for about a month or so.
ATP: Any plans to come back to the UK?
Jack: I'd say 2010. We'll be situated on a new label, maybe some UK press, a record out. It would be nice. We want to thank everyone from the UK for coming out. We know we have a big group of die-hard fans that come out to the shows and are doing a good job by getting their friends to check us out. It's nice to see what happened to us back home, start to happen in other places outside of the US. So, thank you.

│ Digg This│ Stumble ThisInterview: Cash Cash - 28/05/09
Jon managed to sit down with drummer Anthony Villacari, vocalist Jean-Paul Makhlouf and bassist Sam Frisch of Cash Cash before their first performance in London at Kings College supporting Cobra Starship.
The guys spoke to Alter The Press! about their first trip overseas, their debut record 'Take It To The Floor', coming together as a band and more.
Alter The Press: How did Cash Cash come together?
Cash Cash: (Jean Paul) Sam and I were in a band in high school called 'The Consequence' in 2002 and from then till 2008 we changed our name to 'Cash Cash'. It was for legal reasons, there was a rapper called Consequence, he sent these letters to us when we got signed, all this legal garbage, so we had to change the name. We had the song title first 'Cash Cash', and after everything going on with Consequence, we just decided to call our band that. We had pages and pages of names but in the last five minutes of everything, the label was getting angry, as well as management, and we just decided the name 'Cash Cash'.
ATP: How did you guys get discovered?
Cash Cash: We're from New Jersey, and being so close to New York, it’s a hot industry scene. We were out pushing our music, creating a buzz in the Jersey scene, just playing shows for years. People knew who we were, but we really worked everything out in New York City, and from all the demos we passed around, we started getting a huge buzz from them. We spent a lot of time working on them in our home studio and when we were done, we sent tones of press kits out, mass e-mails to industry people and got hot in New York. It was being played at Pete Wentz's club a lot; that brought hype. There was a big stir about it. We'd go to clubs to drink but keep backpacks full of CD's and pass them about.
ATP: How did you management, Ozone, come into the equation?
Cash Cash: We've known Boys Like Girls for a while and they have been good guys. They've always been a good helping hand and told their management about us.
ATP: How was your debut record, ‘Take It To The Floor,' received when it came out?
Cash Cash: It went well. First we did an EP, whilst the record was being mixed, as we needed something we could take with us on tour with Metro Station. It was an EP with a few of our favorite songs and we pretty much sold out. We sold it only on tour, just pressing 5,000 copies. It got buzz going for when our CD came out and we got great feedback on our MySpace and blogs. After that tour, we were on a direct support tour and there were more people singing our songs than we ever thought. On the Metro Station tour, kids were just signing our one single, on our MySpace page, but on later tours, they would sing all the words.
ATP: When did the EP come out?
Cash Cash: We did it in October in the same recording session as the album. The whole record was done in August but we got all the mixes back and weren't happy with how it came out so, we decided to put out a couple of the songs and figure out what to do with the rest, later. We put it out and did one of the songs acoustic, to put a little extra thing on it. Surprisingly, we ended up mixing the record ourselves, once we were happy, we put it out.
ATP: As soon as the record came out, did you go straight on a headline tour?
Cash Cash: No, we did a support tour with The Millionaires, and have been on tour ever since. After, we did a tour with Kevin Rudolph but that got cancelled half way through. Then we jumped on tour with Sing It Loud and Forever The Sickest Kids.
ATP: How has your first visit overseas been so far?
Cash Cash: Amazing. All the shows are sold out and we are touring with our good friends, Sing It Loud and Cobra Starship. This is a dream come true. We go way back with Cobra Starship and, being here with them, brings a little piece of home with us.
ATP: What has been the best night so far?
Cash Cash: The Slam Dunk Festival for sure. It was the best show; it was huge and we knew nearly pretty much every band that day, like We The Kings and The Audition.
ATP: Managed to get any downtime at all?
Cash Cash: Not really, we went to Stonehenge and maybe get to go to Abbey Road tomorrow morning.
ATP: What's planned straight after the tour?
Cash Cash: Going to go home, relax for a few days then go on tour with Every Avenue and Valencia, then Warped Tour until the end of the summer. We have a few things being thrown around hopefully; we can do something in the Fall, in the UK.
ATP: Have you started writing a new record, or is there still a lot of ground to be covered with the current release?
Cash Cash: There is still a lot more work to be done with this new record but we are always noodling around with our computers. We might do a few covers for our MySpace or an EP maybe with a cover song, an acoustic song or a new song; just something different.
Cash Cash's debut album 'Take It To The Floor' is out on Universal Republic US now.

│ Digg This│ Stumble ThisInterview: Cobra Starship - 28/05/09
Jon managed to catch up with guitarist Ryland Blackinton and bassist Alex Suarez of Cobra Starship before their sell out London show at Kings College.
The band spoke to Alter The Press! about the upcoming record 'Hot Mess', why the current tour was rescheduled twice, the bands weekly webisodes in 'Cobra Cam', where the infamous Guy Ripley character originated from, touring with 50 Cent and more.
Alter The Press: You guys finally made it over to the UK. You guys had to rescheduled this tour twice.
Ryland: One reason was that Gabe (Saporta - Vocals) lost his voice about two thirds into Warped Tour last year, and we were looking at different options: about surgery, vocal therapists etc. We knew we had to start recording our new record, which we started doing pre-production for in September. We intended releasing the record around the New Year, but it seemed more advantageous to have the surgery, so that ended shifting everything off for about four months. Gabe had the surgery around the holidays and there is a 6-8 week recovery period, as well as vocal therapy. It threw a wrench in the schedule, but we knew we'd make it eventually.
ATP: How has this UK tour been going so far?
Alex: Amazing. Last time we did a co-headliner with All Time Low; it’s great to do all the same places and it's been awesome.
ATP: You just wrapped up the US Fall Out Boy tour, what was it like touring with 50 Cent for a few dates?
Ryland: 50 Cent only did three shows and cancelled one. He flies in right before he plays and leaves straight in a car. I got to watch him, which was sweet.
ATP: What was the reception like for him?
Ryland: I thought the kids wouldn't get it, but about kids know who 50 Cent is.
Alex: At one show he had a lot of fans come out who were much older and really into the club scene. It was a small percentage though.
Ryland: That tour was the best tour we had been on, our favorite tour so far. It was a fairly simple tour; we only played for half an hour and already knew everyone. The shows were huge and everyone was great. It was good for everyone.
ATP: Did you feel like you were going to cancel half way into the tour, when Gabe sprained himself?
Ryland: No. I think he liked it and added a bit more to his persona, like with a cane.
ATP: You're new album 'Hot Mess', is it leaning towards 'Viva La Cobra' (second album) or is it more in the direction of (the debut) 'While The City Sleeps...?’
Alex: I'd say it's a bit of both but with a few new sounds.
ATP: Two tracks have been released online so far, is the album finished?
Ryland: Yes, we're done and just got off a phone call about that. We only have a few tiny things to finish off when we get home and then it's in the can.
ATP: What can we expect from the new record?
Ryland: We did most of our own production and explored more sounds in terms of synthesis. We collaborate with Patrick (Stump - Fall Out Boy front man) for two or three tracks but really; I think that our fans will be pleased with the record. There are a few tracks that people who weren't familiar with us before will really like.
ATP: Would you say there is a stand out song on the record like 'Snakes On A Plane (Bring It)’ from the first release or 'Guilty Pleasure' from the second release?
Ryland: Good question. Funny thing is, we are the worst people to ask about that. We've been writing these songs, and been in the studio listening over and over again, that I feel like I don't have much of a grasp.
Alex: And you never get that experience of hearing a song like that, come off the record for the first time. You never know which one is going to stick out the most.
Ryland: Plus the fan favorite is different to everyone else's favorite.
ATP: When you recorded 'Snakes On A Plane (Bring It)' and 'Guilty Pleasure', did you know they were going to be as successful as they are?
Ryland: We knew 'Guilty Pleasure' for sure and 'The City At War' as they are the standouts but, with 'Bring It,' we hadn't joined the band yet.
ATP: Is there any songs off this record, which have a dance involved like with 'Guilty Pleasure'? At a lot of the shows, a lot of people will join in.
Alex: That just happened so randomly when we filmed the video. I don't think we can do that again.
ATP: Did you pick those songs to be the singles?
Ryland: Yes, we knew everyone was on the same page.
ATP: Are there any stand out songs from 'Hot Mess' that you want as the singles?
Ryland: We knew 'Good Girls Go Bad' felt like a single.
Alex: We haven't picked out anything else yet. Still trying to figure it out.
ATP: Cobra Cam (the bands weekly video blog), was this your attempt to start something like The Academy Is… TV?
Ryland: Yes. When we were on tour with The Academy Is…, we got to work a lot with Jack (runs TAI TV) and it's weird. As a band, we have a lot of creative ideas to do webisodes but if you don't have a camera guy who doesn't have a lot of initiative like Jack does, it doesn't happen. He is really good at bringing out what we are good at and just does all of it, shoots, edits. We owe a lot to him for Cobra Cam. We come up with the ideas and he does the rest.
ATP: Will this become a regular thing?
Ryland: If we have Jack. We shot a bunch of auxiliary stuff for when we are over here but have enough until the record comes out but I don't know, we'll see.
ATP: Lets talk about Guy Ripley (featured on The Academy Is… TV (news reporter for the "BBC"), where did he originate from?
Ryland: He was in TAI TV on the Honda Civic Tour two years ago. He was interesting to work with, a bit of a fanatic, a square, but he knows his material and all the bands. We have never put him on a guest list but he always gets in. It's crazy, he's very elusive and persistent and even though, love him or hate him, a lot of bands have adopted him as the kind of sixth member; and we embrace that. Guy will be making an appearance on Cobra Cam, he shot a thing with Jack and I don't know where it is but I saw a little bit of the footage and lets just say, Guy Ripley will be bearing quite a little bit of skin, a lot of flesh, almost pornographic!
ATP: Guy Ripley won't be leaving anytime soon will he?
Ryland: Try as we may, he's not. Guy is like a cockroach, you step on him and he's gone.
ATP: Despite Cobra being from Brooklyn, do you try and stir away from that hipster culture?
Ryland: With Cobra Starship, we don't make music for our friends to like. We live there and there, the minute a band gets big on television, 80% of the people don't like it anymore. We are aware of it, and have a lot of friends in that scene, but we’ve always just wanted to have fun.
ATP: When are you coming back to the UK?
Ryland: Don't know, no idea. I'd love to do Reading and Leeds next year but nothing planned.
ATP: What's planned for the rest of the year?
Alex: Nothing at the moment. We are going to see what happens with the release of the record, get things going with press and stuff like that.
Ryland: I think the only thing announced that we are doing is playing Japan in July. There are a lot of ideas floating around, maybe have a good support slot towards the end of the year. I don't know.
'Hot Mess' is out August 11th on Decaydance Records.

│ Digg This│ Stumble ThisHarvey Danger Split Up
Harvey Danger have announced they are splitting up.
Messege from the band:
"After 15 years, three albums, hundreds of shows, and far more twists and turns than we ever imagined possible, we've decided to put Harvey Danger to rest. The decision is totally mutual and utterly amicable. Everyone is very proud of the work we've done together, but we've also come to feel that our collaboration has--in a very positive way--run its course. We're all eager to try our hands at other projects, musical and otherwise.
Chances are we'll all work together in one form or another; if we've learned anything, it's that you never know what will happen. Of course, putting an end to something we've been working on since our early 20s can't help being accompanied by a soupcon of melancholy. Nonetheless, as the Chambers Brothers remind us, time has come today. Rock bands have life spans, and Harvey Danger's has been longer, and more eventful, than even we would have predicted. "

│ Digg This│ Stumble ThisInterview: Crisis In Hollywood
Sean recently spoke with Orlando, Florida band, Crisis In Hollywood about the bands new album, 'Safe and Sound', its inspirations, the bands influences and working with Bayside's Anthony Raneri.
ATP: First of all, who are you and what is your role in Crisis In Hollywood?
Andy Wambach, I play drums in Crisis in Hollywood.
ATP: Whats the story behind the name Crisis In Hollywood?
Andy: We spent a full day sitting in a bookstore trying to come up with a band name. It was a full 8 hours of searching through obscure chapter titles and catch phrases, but nothing caught our attention. We left feeling a bit defeated, but on the ride home something was on the radio about Paris Hilton, and I blurted out "we should call the band Crisis in Hollywood", everybody loved it so it stuck.
ATP: How did the four of you come together as a band?
Andy: We had all been in previous bands that played together in the Orlando scene. A couple of us even lived together for a while. It was just a timing thing, we were all looking for projects at the same time and decided, what the hell, let's just start something.
ATP: You've just released your second album, 'Safe and Sound'. How would you describe the album to people who arn't familiar with your music?
Andy: I would say the album is for fans of pop AND punk, we get classified as pop a lot, but generally tour and play locally with punk and hardcore bands. Our individual tastes lean more towards the heavier side, which we've been told is apparent in our music. We wanted to make an album that anyone could appreciate. We branched out a bit on Safe and Sound to include some more dynamics in the songwriting, hoping to cater to the softer side of our audience. I think the album is simply a pop/rock album, and anyone who digs bands like Jimmy Eat World, Yellowcard, or Four Year Strong should be able to get into it.
ATP: The album was produced by Anthony Raneri. How did the collaboration come about?
Andy: We knew a guy, who knew a guy, who had a friend... Actually we only knew one guy out in LA who heard the first album and immediately thought of Anthony. Anthony was looking to produce a new band and we managed to get a copy of our first album to him via our mutual friend. He liked what he heard and called us up a few days later to see if we wanted to write a new album. We are all HUGE Bayside fans so this was incredible news. We got to writing, wrote 18 songs and were emailing ideas back and forth to Anthony before he came down here.
ATP: What was it like working with him?
Andy: It was an honor, like I said we were all huge fans of Bayside and Anthony's songwriting. Our only hesitation was not wanting to be one of those bands that has songs written for them, luckily, Anthony's approach was quite opposite of that. He already liked our songs and writing style, and we had the freedom to write the entire album ourselves. It was a huge help however to have a seasoned ear like his listen to our songs and offer suggestions for dynamics and structure. He was a great guy to work with, professionally and personally.
ATP: When you were writing the album, what influenced and inspired you?
Andy: Well, to be honest we weren't prepared to write an album, we had only been touring on the debut album for about 6 months before we got the call. The fact that a musical hero to us was interested in producing the new album provided a lot of the motivation and inspiration. We try not to listen to much pop/punk music while writing, because it's just to easy to write duplicate material in this genre. We all get inspired by different artists, but some collective favorites to listen to are bands like The Descendants... those guys were writing pop/punk song way before it was the cool thing to do, and we feel like we would rather get inspired by legends like them, instead of one hit pop wonders.
ATP: Which bands/artists have influenced your sound?
Andy: This is a tough question because we have a very wide array of tastes, but some collective influences include The Pixies, Bowling for Soup, The Descendants, The Queers, and New Found Glory to name a few.
ATP: When you play live, what can fans expect?
Andy: We pretty much live on the stage. We have all been playing and touring in the music scene for a while, and one of the first things you notice with up and coming pop/punk bands is that more time seems to be spent on their hair, clothes, and dance moves then it is on putting on a great show. We have really tried to focus on giving the audience a professional, yet insane, rock experience at our shows. We want people to come hear us live and think two things. First they should think they sound as good as they do on the record, and second those guys know how to put on a good show. Hopefully it translates, the reality is we just love paying and hope it shows. We may not be the best dressed band at the venue but we will certainly rock harder then anyone there.
ATP: What do you have planned for the summer? Any Tours?
Andy: We do! We are hitting the East Coast again for a 3 week tour in June with our pals Hand to Hand on Lifeforce Records and select dates with the The Casting Out (ex-Boy Sets Fire). After that we are putting together a 3 week West Coast tour, possibly some dates with Hand to Hand as well on that one. After that, who knows, definitely more touring, we plan on spending the majority of this year in our van.
ATP: What does the future hold for Crisis In Hollywood?
Andy: Hopefully Warped Tour next year, thats already in the works. We want to make it to every State at least once over the next year and then just keep it rolling. Everyone is in a band nowadays and the only way to make things happen in this biz is to get yourself in front of as many people as often as possible and thats what we're doing. We will also be looking to do some more festivals in the future. We played a few this year, like Sunfest in West Palm with punk rock legends, Pennywise, and we really enjoy the festival format for shows. We're already writing new songs for the next album and hope to keep releasing stuff yearly if we can.
ATP:Do you have anything else to say?
Andy: I don't think so... but whoever called Florida the Sunshine State was full of shit.
'Safe and Sound' is available now through Financial Records.

According to their official website, Sigur Ros have nearly completed a new album.

An update on Thrice's new album has been posted.
"Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I’ve been super busy and there really hasn’t been anything new. Still doing vocals, still working on some mixes. We’re about 6 songs deep into vocals now, and I think I’ve finally shaped up a mix that I like for one song. I’ve started working on mixing a second as of today. This has been a pretty brutal routine for me, as both mixing and tracking vocals take a lot of concentration, and doing both, day in and day out, has left me with a raisin for a brain. That was a lot of commas. Too many? I don’t know. Raisins can’t think.

An update from Big If can be read below. The band are hoping to release their debut album before the end of the year.
"Hello there my friends. I know it has been forever since we have put something new up on the site and I know we have not been answering everyone's messages. I wanted to give you an update in hopes that we will be forgiven. Originally Sean and I hoped we would be making a record this summer so we could be out touring before the year ends. Unfortunately it doesn't look like that is in the cards right now. The last few months have been kind of hectic being on seperate sides of the country, but starting this week Sean will be staying in Georgia with me for the summer so we can really dig in and write the record.
We are still setting the goal to record an album before the year is over and feel confident that we will. We have debated over whether or not to take down the site and relaunch when we are actually ready to get out and play and give you a full record of music but I don't think we need to do all that. I just ask that everyone hang in there if the site is dormant for a while. It could be that we launched it a bit too early but I promise when we are fully up and running we will flood the site with music and video and message replies. The fact that we already have so many people supporting us despite the fact that we have never even played a note live is just amazing and we hope you guys understand. As soon as we have news you will be the first to know. Thanks."
