A7X Drummer Death Inconclusive
According to the results of the autopsy, the death of Avenged Sevenfold drummer, James "The Rev" Sullivan is still inconclusive.Warship Post Update
Warship front man, Francis Mark has posted an update regarding the current situation of the band."I've gotten a bunch of messages over the last few months with people asking if this is still a band and i apologize for leaving everyone guessing. I didn't know how to respond because when I thought about it I'm not sure if you could call what we did a "band". We did four tours and had four different bass players, three drummers and three guitar players. Rob and I went into the studio and recorded a full length having never played a show and we hoped to fill out the rest of the band after the fact but that never fell into place. We were lucky and grateful to play with so many awesome musicians but it was also stressful and unstable wondering what the cast was going to be as tours approached.
So many things kept working against us. Then some tours came up which Rob could not do and I stubbornly expected him to let all other things in his life fall by the wayside to try to keep Warship on track. Of course this was unreasonable and nearly ended our friendship altogether. With 50% of the creative force of Warship no longer involved I tried to keep it going until summer 09, when I returned from an extremely challenging tour of Europe and my father was in a near fatal motorcycle accident. I spent a lot of time in New York after that with my family and didn't think much about music for a little while.
I'll try to keep this short because I know most are only interested in a yes or no answer as to whether or not Warship is still a band.
A band? No. We will probably never be an active touring band again.
Will we ever make music again? Who knows. I love recording. I would stay in the studio recording new things all year if someone would fund it. Never say never, but don't hold your breath either. Whatever happens, Supply and Depend is something I'm glad we did and proud to have been a part of. At least you'll have that forever."

Album Review: Daylight - Sinking
Powerful, raw 90's-influenced post-hardcore is the basis for Doylesville, Pennsylvania's Daylight. This 5-track EP called 'Sinking' from start to finish, with their influences such as Hot Water Music and Jawbreaker shamelessly showing throughout with 'Enough' opening the EP at a fierce pace with passionate delivery from the whole band.It leads nicely into 'The Best' with its dark, somewhat emotional tone that breaks through to an all out fast-paced garage punk rock onslaught, that ideally fits the bands style and ambition. Whilst 'You're Not My Father' and the title track, 'Sinking' come and go nicely, with the former making good use of a subtle melody and distant vocals. The latter is perhaps Daylight at the most aggressive and passionate with Jake Clarke's screams punching their way through the bands fierce post-hardcore/punk rock sound.
Album Review: For The Common Wealth - This Is Where I've Been
London-based solo artist For The Common Wealth is known in some circles as the ex-singer of the now defunct band, Tonight Is Goodbye. 'This Is Where I've Been' is FTCW's 2nd album, a self-produced, self-released (and free) record that is more or less your usual acoustic emo-pop, that comes in at a bit too long at 40 minutes.Although tracks like 'Quiet Talk' and 'Hold It Down' show a bit of variety, with the former making good use of subtle keys that add depth. Whilst 'Represent' is one of the highlights, with FTCW's soaring vocals and pleasant sounding keys combining well.

Interview: Set Your Goals - 16/12/09
Prior to their last show of their recent European headline run, Alter The Press! sat down with Set Your Goals vocalist Matt Wilson before hitting the stage at the London O2 Islington Academy.Matt spoke to ATP about their biggest UK headline run to date, guest appearances on the new album, meeting fellow member Jordan Brown at a New Found Glory show, the possibility of a 7" split with Fireworks and more.
Alter The Press: How has 2009 been for you?
Matt Wilson: It's been busy; we've been on tour most of the year and, combined, had about only two months off if that. A lot of tours and a lot of good stuff happening.
ATP: You're wrapping up the last tour of the year, playing your biggest headline shows to date in the UK, how has it been?
Matt: It's awesome, definitely a lot better from when we last headlined. Last time was good, but it was over two years ago. The crowds are bigger and more familiar with our band and we got to bring over some cool American bands this time, which was awesome.

Flareguns
Flareguns i think was the hardest one to do vocally as we kept running into problems with random things. I remember me & Dan pretty much nearing on to a fist fight because he made a comment about my vocals, which i took unnecessarily personal. I remember making him going outside whilst i sat at the dinner table over eating darylea dunkers out of protest. Not the most rock & roll story, but oh well. It felt like a chance to just really write a bunch of ramblings about some honest truths. I guess it's my most honest lyrics in the sense that it's not all hidden away with lame imagery or obvious references.
I don't think i noticed how dark some of the lyrics are until i heard it in the car on the way back. However I think alot of it is just about, how whilst sometimes I'm a complete miserable bastard, there's a part of me telling me to shut up being such a little girl & to get on with life. The chorus chants involves everyone who came to the studio on the last day. Our best friends Sam & Adam, as well as my Brother Matt joined us in this huge room which was supposedly a converted kiln. We all stood round in a circle and just shouted our arses off. Makes it mean that much more to everyone I think.
Live Review: Gallows, Trash Talk, Sharks and Crossbreaker - TJ's, Newport - 07/12/09
A very long queue is waiting in front of Newport's TJ's doors tonight. Gallows are back to the city's mythical venue, two years after what they still call as "one of their best shows ever".Hardcore newcomers Crossbreaker are charged with commencing hostilities. The five Welsh guys play the few songs featured on their demo, an angry and metallic modern hardcore in the vein of Deathwish bands.
Whilst Sharks are a good surprise, as their songs sound way more dynamic live but keep a very English rock touch. The band impress by their energy, like their guitarist jumping everywhere which will eventually lead him to face several guitar problems. Overall the band served their purpose and warmed the crowd up well.

Live Review: Set Your Goals, Broadway Calls and Fireworks - TJ's, Newport - 09/12/09
This promising night begins with Michigan boys Fireworks and their catchy pop-punk reminiscent of early New Found Glory. It's their first time in Europe, and the band is certainly pleased to see some people singing to every word in the crowd, with a special mention to the absolute hit 'Detroit'. The band is happy to be there and their good mood is infectious. Great job as openers.Broadway Calls, more familiar with British crowds, are the next ones on stage. The trio provides a well-executed set, playing the best tracks off their self-titled debut ('Call It Off', 'Back to Oregon', 'Save Our Ship') and its 2009 follow-up, 'Good Views, Bad News' ('Be All That You Can Be', 'Midnight Hour', 'To The Sheets'). You wouldn't guess they're only three playing when hearing their energetic live show.

Live Review: Propagandhi, Protest The Hero, Strike Anywhere and Blackhole - The Coal Exchange, Cardiff - 02/12/09
This long night was kicked off by Hertfordshire punk-hardcore band Blackhole. In front of an audience completely inert. Vocalist Richard Carter decided to follow his brother Franki's path and go scream his words right in their faces. He spent the whole set walking among the crowd, while his band mates were rocking hard on stage. They put out a solid performance, even if it not suitable for such a big room. The American five-piece, Strike Anywhere were next and were supporting their Bridge Nine debut 'Iron Front'. The set list (unfortunately for those who had seen them before) only include a few new tracks and focused on the act's classics, from 'Exit English'-era 'To The World' to 2006's hit 'Instinct'. The band is as energetic as always, frontman Thomas Barnett jumping up and down, his dreadlocks in the air, and constantly making the crowd participate. Unfortunately, they had to stop before playing their eternal closer 'Sunset On 32nd'.

Live Review: All Or Nothing and Chaos Days - Milkwoodjam, Swansea - 11/12/09
All Aboard Records' pop-punk bands All Or Nothing and Chaos Days recently teamed up for a split EP and decided to hit the road together to support it.It should be a good way for Chaos Days to get more listeners, as the Brighton guys aren't very famous compared to their label mates. Their pop-punk is soft, filled up with good melodies and the dual vocals on songs like 'You and I' give a good energy to their music. Maybe they could use them more to differentiate themselves a bit more, as their big choruses and bouncy rhythms are well-executed but predictable and classical. 'At Heaven's Gate', the other track featured on the split, is less tasty live but remains pleasing due to the great work on the guitars. The band also include songs from their debut EP 'Under the weather' to their set, which enables us to witness the four-piece band's progression.
Album Review: Kyoto Drive - This Is All We Ever Wanted
First of all I want to start off this review, by apologising to the band for taking so long to write this review. 'This Is All We Ever Wanted' was recorded last summer, sent to me in October and left on my desk till December, which is unfortunate because this Birmingham pop-punk 4 piece have came on leaps and bounds since their 'Spotlights and Stars' EP.From the start 'This Is All We Ever Wanted' sounds more confident and broader, as 'Transitions' is upbeat and fierce and leads nicely into 'I'd Give It All', a song which was first heard on our Autumn/Winter 2009 compilation a few months back and has good blend of light-heavy guitars and strong vocal melodies from Adam Binder, along with occasional 'woah-oh-oh'.
Album Review: Fiorentina - Traditions EP
Following a string of tours across England, Fiorentina’s debut EP 'Traditions' has been released with hopes of launching the acoustic pop duo towards greater things. It is certainly not a bad start, as this three song EP showcases the bands style and song writing capabilities quite ably.It begins with “Greatest View”, which the band is hoping to use as their first single. The song immediately establishes the Fiorentina sound, which is catchy acoustic pop coupled with tales of lost love. The two guitars play off each other well, as main vocalist Frase recounts the crumbling of relationship.
